Susquehanna University was established Sept. 1, 1858年9月18日，根据宾夕法尼亚州联邦法律，由法院法令成立. 1858年12月24日 Missionary Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Joint Statement on the Value of Liberal Education by AAC&U和AAUP
